Getting involved in community and charity events and developing relationships is an important part of the way we do business. Our recent activities include:
â— As a major sponsor of a National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee inspired football carnival in Roebourne, CITIC Pacific Mining (CPM) helped celebrate the significance and value of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander cultures. CPM provided marquee shades, a sausage sizzle and cool drinks for the 250 players and coaches at the wind-up event, as well as the medallion for the overall fairest and best player.
â— CPM health and safety champion Magnetite Man took centre stage in front of 25,000 people at the Chris Mainwaring Tribute Match at Subiaco Oval. Half-time entertainment included a Mascot Race where about 40 company mascots donated $1,000
each to children's charity Telethon to compete.
â— CPM, the KDCCI and Woodside co-hosted an information sundowner in Karratha to promote the Clontarf Foundation, a non-profit organisation which establishes football academies at schools to encourage Indigenous boys and young men to attend school and prepare themselves for full-time work. CPM recently entered a three-year partnership with Clontarf.
â— The company was the major sponsor of the Karratha and Districts Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KDCCI) Business Excellence Awards. CPM's Len Greenhalgh, Area Manager Power Plant, was a guest speaker at the awards which celebrated local business success.
